The Battery Park and Manhattan Sewer Attacks reveal how Sliggers can turn an ordinary urban night into two simultaneous hunts, one in a public park and the other beneath the streets. Five creatures emerge from cover after a couple has left the waterfront, divide into separate groups, and find prey in places where people believe themselves briefly safe: a park bench and a dry underground chamber. The attacks bring the danger of the coastline’s spreading nests into the city’s greenery and sewer network.
